A youth hailing from Bangalore but residing in Calangute was killed in a road mishap at Umtawada in Calangute on Saturday morning.
The accident took place at around 8 am near the Saibaba Temple in Umtawada, when a bus driven by Pramod Kandolkar was proceeding from Umtawada to the bus stand. As the bus entered the main road, the vehicle collided with an oncoming motorcycle, driven by Dhurba Jyoti (25).
Jyoti fell on the road and was seriously injured. He was rushed to the Candolim Primary Health Centre, where he died while undergoing treatment. Calangute police are investigating the incident.
Rider injured in Khandepar mishap
A scooter rider from Usgao was injured in a road mishap at Khandepar.
The accident took place as a truck was proceeding from Usgao towards Ponda. A scooter driven by Vrinit Naik was proceeding in the same direction and the scooter struck the truck from behind.
The injured was admitted to the Ponda sub-district hospital and later sent to GMC hospital for further treatment. Ponda police is investigating the case.
