Rider killed in Tisk-Usgao mishap

A motorcycle rider from Tisk-Usgao died in a road mishap late Friday evening on the Khandepar bridge and the accident paralysed traffic along the route for nearly two hours.

PONDA:
Ponda police informed that the deceased, identified as Satish Modekar, was travelling along with a friend on a two-wheeler from Usgao to Ponda. The friend escaped unhurt in the mishap.  
Though there was a truck near the body, the police were unclear if the truck was connected to the mishap.  
“It is not clear whether the truck was involved in the accident. We are investigating the case,” Ponda Police Inspector Sudesh Naik told media persons. Police informed that the truck was also proceeding towards Ponda.  
The accident took place on the middle of the narrow bridge, blocking traffic for nearly two hours. Police later sent the body for an autopsy and is investigating the case.  
Meanwhile, Collem police has found a decomposed male body along railway track in Collem.

Gold worth `34.73 lakh seized at Dabolim airport

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs attached to Dabolim International Airport seized 11 gold biscuits worth Rs 34.73 lakh in unclaimed baggage on Friday.
