Miscreants vandalised the road naming plaque of former Davorlim Sarpanch late John Raikar at Davorlim near the railway gate.

The plaque was found vandalised, and the name of the former sarpanch on the plaque was damaged.

Former Davorlim Sarpanch and panchayat member Herculean Niasso has condemned the incident and demanded action against the miscreants.

“The road was named after John Raikar following a resolution passed by the panchayat body. Raikar was a former long-time Sarpanch of Davorlim. He was a member of the ST community. The decision to name the road after Raikar and to install the plaque was taken by the panchayat body,” he said.

Herculean said that since the panchayat had unanimously resolved to install the plaque naming the road after John Raikar, the body would meet to take action on the matter.
