South Goa District Magistrate, Egna Cleetus, IAS has issued an order under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023 prohibiting digging of all types of roads, road shoulder/lanes or thoroughfare’s or a part thereof in the South Goa District in view of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Goa on November 28.
The order has also directed the departments which are engaged in ongoing activities related to road digging/ road cutting shall restore the roads to its original condition before or on November 26.
“A VVIP is scheduled to visit Goa on 28/11/2025 and any road digging activity by the utility agencies like Public Works Department, Electricity Department, Drinking Water Department, SIDCGL, GSIDC, National Highway, etc may lead to breakdown of BSNL Under Ground Cable/Optical Fiber Cable and can cause interruption to the vital telecom facilities,” the district Magistrate stated.
All the Police Officers of the rank of PIs and above of South Goa District shall ensure effective implementation of this order, and if any person/agency/organisation is found violating this order, appropriate action under Section 223 of BNS, 2023 may be initiated against the same.
All the Deputy Collectors and Sub Divisional Magistrates of South Goa are authorised to verify the violation of this order issued under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023 and to file FIR before the concerned Court/Police Station and to lodge complaint before the concerned Juridical Magistrate.
This order shall be in force with effect from November 25, 2025 and shall remain in operation upto November 28, 2025.
