The water pipeline at Dhargal-Pernem got damaged on Saturday due to ongoing construction of the national highway, resulting in the wastage of huge amounts of water.
While PWD workers were at work till late Saturday to fix the pipeline and to restore water supply, the damage to the pipeline has prompted sharp criticism in the area.
Local panch Pradip Patekar accused the company involved in the road construction of gross negligence and said the pipeline had been damaged on a number of occasions, causing severe inconvenience to people in the affected areas.
Locals have also accused officials of not supervising work at the site.
