Rosary students knock CM’s doors; want exam deferred

MARGAO: A delegation of AamAdmi Party (AAP) leader Pratima Coutinho along with student leaders of Rosary Higher Secondary, Navelim called on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at his Sanquelim residence on Sunday and made a plea not to conduct the examinations offline.

Pratima along with Aloisha D’Sa, Savila Coelho and Aniket Dessai met the Chief Minister, who also holds the Education portfolio and handed him a representation requesting to direct the Education Department to either hold online exams or postpone the offline exams till the students are vaccinated.

Pratima said the Chief Minister has promised to give justice to the Rosary Higher Secondary Students from Navelim.

In the memorandum, the delegation pointed out that the students of Rosary Higher secondary school are in a panic situation in view of the Delta strain virus. They drew the attention of the Chief Minister to the fact that the students of Higher Secondary schools are all below the age of 18 and have not received the Covid vaccination doses. “We would not like to risk our health as we have got younger siblings and senior citizens at home”, the memorandum stated.

The students made a fervent plea to the Chief Minister to get the examination postponed till they are administered the vaccination or conduct the exam in online mode as scheduled ie from Monday.
