The fate of a host of political heavyweights, including four chief ministerial candidates, Congress president Luizinho Faleiro, Digambar Kamat, Ravi Naik and Sudin Dhavalikar will be decided in the second round of counting at the government college building, Borda.
In the first round, the future of ministers Mahadev Naik (Shiroda), Milind Naik (Mormugao) and former minister, Deepak Dhavlikar (Priol) will be known by around 9.30 in the morning as the election authorities have decided to first take up for counting constituencies viz Priol, Shiroda, Mormugao, Dabolim, Nuvem, Fatorda, Benaulim, Cuncolim, Quepem and Sanvordem.
Round one will also unveil the political future of former Congress president, Subhash Shirodkar as well as Goa SuRaj Party chief Mickky Pacheco and mentor of the nascent Goa Forward party Vijai Sardesai.
The fate of Congressman-turned-BJP candidate Mauvin Godinho will also be decided in round one of the counting along with sitting MLAs Babu Kavlekar (Quepem) and Ganesh Gaonkar (Sanvordem).
The future of the Alemao brothers, Churchill and Joaquim, will be known by around 9.30 am. Both Churchill and Joaquim are contesting from Benaulim and Cuncolim constituency respectively in their bid to make a political comeback after their defeat in the 2012 Assembly election.
Constituencies that will be taken up for counting in round two includes Ponda, Marcaim, Vasco, Cortalim, Curtorim, Margao, Navelim, Velim, Curchorem and Sanguem.
The fate of former sports minister, Ramesh Tawadkar, who’s contesting the election as an Independent, will be known in the last and final round of counting in South Goa. The entire process is expected to be completed around noon, election officials said.
