Saying that the government is ready to engage with anyone and everyone to remove their misconceptions on the revival of the RP 2021, TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Saturday threw a gauntlet at the Congress and former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to come clear and outline the party’s stand on operationalizing the RP 2021.
He further demanded to know from Kamat, who was the Chief Minister between 2007-11, whether the Regional plan notified during the Congress regime was a scam and a fraud on the Goan people.
Reacting to the demand raised by social activists to scrap the RP 2021 as they were concerned on the protection of hills, khazan lands, forests etc, the TCP Minster made it clear that the RP 2021 will be operationalized only on a condition that all eco-sensitive zones will not be released for settlement.
“Given this stand of the government, I don’t understand what exactly is the fear of the activists,” he said.
Saying that some activists, who are involved in social media campaign, also double up as spokesmen of political parties, Sardesai singled out the Congress party, saying that senior party leaders, including former Chief Minsters, Pratapsing Rane and Digambar Kamat have been demanding operationalizing the RP 2021.
“This brings us the moot question whether the RP notified by the Congress party when Digambar Kamat was the Chief Minister was a fraud and a scam,” he demanded to know while asking the Congress come on record and outline their stand on the RP.
Saying that he is ready to engage with anyone and talk to everyone on the issue, the TCP Minister however, said that does not mean that people go on opposing anything and everything.
“Do these people want that the TCP department should be abandoned and allow constructions anywhere and everywhere. Is that the way government should be run,” he questioned, while saying “let us not be obstructionists though we are ready to look into good suggestions.”
