Rs 18.05 lakh worth Goa liquor seized at Anmod check post

As illicit liquor trade between Karnataka and Goa continues unabated, 1503 litres of Goa-made liquor worth Rs 18.05 lakh was from the truck near the Anmod check post on Friday.

Acting on a tip-off, a Karnataka excise team on Friday intercepted a truck that was reportedly heading to Andhra Pradesh via Karnataka.

Officials said a huge stock of toothpaste and other products that was being transported illegally from Goa without any valid papers has also been seized. The driver and a cleaner from Andhra Pradesh have been taken into custody.

Reshma Banavalikar, U N Tulja, M K Mogre, Balkrishnan and a team carried out the raid.
