Saligao sewerage project work approval awaited: Jayesh

Says report submitted to finance dept for approval

Housing Board Minister and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar stated that the sewage project report prepared by Sewerage & Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa Ltd for Saligao constituency, the estimated cost of which is Rs 140 crore, has been submitted to the
finance department for
approval.
"As soon as it is approved, sewerage work in Saligao constituency will commence in full swing," said Salgaonkar.
He was speaking after performing a puja to mark the commencement of sewerage work at Ramnagar-Betim in the presence of Reis Magos Sarpanch Sheilesh Parulekar and panchas.
He said further that the work in Saligao constituency will begin at PDA Colony as this area is rocky. "After completion of sewerage work in PDA Colony till Bela Vista, the work in other parts of Saligao constituency will be taken up."
"The sewerage work of laying 300-metre long sewerage pipeline from Darga Masjid to Patel Estate, which has just commenced at Ramnagar, comes under the sewerage project of Porvorim constituency and the estimated cost of this work is about Rs one crore," said Salgaonkar.
Salgaonkar said he has decided to give more importance to solve the basic problems of water and electricity being faced by the residents of Saligao constituency.
He recently had a meeting with PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar regarding water supply. "The PWD minister has assured to solve the water problem."
"To solve the electricity problem, I have convened a meeting of sarpanchas of all the six panchayats from Saligao constituency at Saligao on September 28. Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar will attend the meeting," he said.
