Barely two weeks after securing bail in a narcotics case, a Saligao youth was arrested again for allegedly possessing suspected Ecstasy tablets in Calangute. The accused, Vaibhav Gawade (23), was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) during a raid at the bus parking area near Calangute Cricket Ground on the road to Nagoa.
ANC officials said suspected Ecstasy tablets weighing 6.59 gm were seized from him. He was produced before the court and remanded to four days of police custody.
Gawade had earlier been arrested by the Crime Branch on April 16 after allegedly being found with 6.04 gm of MDMA and 1.2 gm of Ecstasy worth around Rs 90,000. He was granted conditional bail on May 6. The arrest comes amid concerns over repeat narcotics offences in Goa.
