Adv Jalisha Tulaskar has been elected unopposed as the new sarpanch of Sangolda.
The post had fallen vacant after a no-confidence motion was passed against former sarpanch Minolette Lopes by 4-0 votes in September.
At a special meeting to elect the new sarpanch, four panchas, Avinash Naik, Jalisha Tulaskar, Ulhas Morajkar and Wilma Alvares were present.
Tulaskar was the lone candidate to the post and she was declared elected unopposed. Shirish Tari was the presiding officer and he was assisted by panchayat secretary Jitendra Naik.
Later while speaking to media persons, Tulaskar said her priority would be to get the construction work of the new Panchayat Ghar completed as early as possible.
“Secondly, I would like to get all roads in Sangolda hotmixed,” she said.
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik assured full support to Tulaskar in the panchayat.
“I am also keen to complete the construction of Sangolda Panchayat Ghar as early as possible and I will also focus on repairs and hotmixing of roads in Saligao constituency,” said Naik.
