Work on the project began in December 2014 by the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).
When contacted, SMC Chief Officer Pramod Dessai said the GSUDA had assured that the new building would be operational by March. But, the complex is not ready as yet. The painting work, interior furnishing and other works are still incomplete,” said Desai.
SMC Chairperson Suryadatta Naik also admitted that the Rs 5 crore SMC complex is yet to be completed, but was hopeful that the project would be completed by August.
“More than 80 per cent of the work has been completed. The complex will have facilities for underground parking, shops and toilets. The municipal shops will be given out on rent through an auction,”
said Naik.
“I feel that the complex will be operational by August 15. It all depends on the speed of the work by GSUDA,”
he added.
