A man from Vakarwada-Sanguem had been awaiting financial aid from the government ever since after his house partially collapsed last year and on Sunday night, his house sustained extensive damage a second time due to heavy rains in the area.
The owner, Laxman Savlo Naik, was lucky to have escaped a few minutes before a large portion of his house collapsed.
According to reports, a portion of the house of Laxman Savlo Naik had collapsed last year due to heavy rains and since then, Naik had been eagerly awaiting financial aid from the government.
Following damages to his house last year, officials from Sanguem Mamlatdar’s office and the talathi Damodar Naik had conducted the panchanama and forwarded their report to higher officials for consideration.
However even after a year, Naik was yet to receive any compensation from the government.
While Naik continued to await government aid, a large portion of his house collapsed in the heavy rains which lashed Sanguem on Sunday.
At the time of the incident, Naik was asleep inside the house. On sleeping a loud noise, Naik rushed out of the house and a few moments later, a large portion of the house collapsed.
Incidentally, Naik’s mother had expired 12 days ago and while he was still grieving over his mother’s death, the house which gave him partial shelter collapsed a second time.
Naik, who hails from a very poor family with no source of income, is now left homeless and is eagerly waiting for some aid to come in.
Meanwhile, just like last year, officials from Mamlatdar’s office at Sanguem conducted a panchanama of the damages caused to Naik’s house on Monday.
Locals in the area have been left to wonder if Naik would ever get any compensation from the government.
