Claims he has exhausted funds of Rs 20 cr under MPLAD scheme

Accepting the gauntlet thrown by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to give his report card on the projects carried out in the constituency in the last five years, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday unveiled the works executed in South Goa, even claiming he has exhausted the funds under the MPLAD scheme in the constituency.
In fact, to prove a point or two, the Congress MP has extended an invitation to the Chief Minister to inaugurate a cemetery executed under the MPLAD scheme at Rivona village during the weekend.
Addressing the media at the Congress district office here on Wednesday in the presence of GPCC chief Amit Patkar and South district Congress president Savio D’Silva, the MP further said that he has raised burning issues plaguing the state in Parliament during his stint as MP in the last five years.
Armed with a list of works executed in South Goa under the MP Local Area Development scheme, Sardinha said he has spent the funds, around Rs 20 crore on the development works in the constituency.
“When I was elected as the MP, South Goa, funds to the tune of over Rs two crore, which were of the tenure of my predecessor was available with the district Collector. All the funds have been spent by me in the constituency in the last five years”, he said, including the distribution of three-wheelers for the differently abled people’, he said.
He added: “My Report Card is with the people of South Goa. I have exhausted all my funds. I have done works in every Village in South Goa. One of my project of Cemetery is complete. I invite Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to come and inaugurate it on Saturday February 17”.
