MAPUSA
The ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ programme is being organized by misusing taxpayer’s money and government machinery, the Congress alleged, and slammed the BJP-led government for using the event as a tool to campaign for the party.
The Congress, on Saturday, also said that for the last nine years and 10 months, the BJP-led government never thought about the people and visited them only during the elections.
“The ‘Sarkar Tumchya Dari’ event is a game plan to deceive the people of Goa by spending government money. The event is being held by misusing the government machinery to campaign for the BJP with the elections in mind,” said Amarnath Panjikar, GPCC media chairman.
The State government has been organizing the sarkar tumchya dari (government at your doorstep) programme in every constituency with an aim to take government services and facilities to the citizens and redress the grievances of the people.
The event was kick-started from the Tivim constituency on September 19 and the programme will be organized in Aldona on Sunday (Nov 14).
Continuing, Panjikar said when the government was in power for the last two terms, the BJP has failed to reach out to people but only during the election did they go to people’s doors to ask for votes.
He said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should spell out various people's problems he has taken up and how many of those have been resolved.
He further said that Aldona MLA, Glenn Ticlo has failed to take up issues of the people for the last two terms and just when the elections were approaching he was attempting to reach out to the people.
“What project of significance has come up in Aldona in the last two terms of the Aldona MLA? What industry has come up in the constituency? Where have the playgrounds come up? Out of the 10,000 jobs announced by the government, how many youths of Aldona have got jobs? The CM and the local MLA should declare this tomorrow at the event,” Panjikar said while addressing the media in the North Goa District Congress office in Mapusa.
He said the BJP-led government has been organizing the sarkar tumchya dari event by spending lavishly when the government had no money to pay the salaries of the staff.
“They are spending crores and making use of government machinery so that the BJP can score points with the electorate just before the elections. People of Goa are wise enough to see through the BJP’s game plan,” he said.
He said senior citizens and the widows in Aldona were yet to get their money while those who applied for the Ladli Laxmi scheme were yet to receive their amount and wondered whether the government will disburse the amount at Sunday’s event.
