Sattari youth held for sexually assaulting, hitting girl

A 19-year-old youth from Podocem-Sattari has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl and assaulting her at Sarvan-Vathadev.

According to Bicholim police, the victim’s brother complained that Gauresh Gaonkar forcefully took the girl on a scooter to an isolated area on October 14. He allegedly choked her, hit her face on temple steps and punched her, breaking her teeth and injuring her lips.

Police said Gaonkar then threatened her and shared a video of the incident on WhatsApp, revealing her identity. He had also allegedly assaulted her earlier. Gaonkar was arrested under the BNS, Goa Children’s Act and POCSO Act.
