Sawant calls on NGOs to promote cleanliness in State

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has called upon social organisations and NGOs to conduct special events for cleanliness awareness, plastic-free areas and to promote a clean and beautiful State.

He was speaking at the inauguration of a bus shelter at Sanquelim built by Blue Globe Export Private Limited under the social service initiative of Bicholim Rotary Club.

“Social organisations like the Rotary Club are doing great work in the fields of infrastructure, culture, service, education, health. The government is doing everything it can hold special programmes for cleanliness awareness and plastic-free areas for a clean and beautiful city in the state. But it is necessary to create awareness in society and if social organisations contribute in this regard, it will be social service in the true sense,” said Sawant.

Others present at the event included Rotary Club District Governor Sharad Pai, Sanquelim Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhi Prabhu, Vice-Chairperson Anand Kanekar, and Rotary Club President Swapnil Dixit.

In his address, Rotary Club District Governor Sharad Pai said the Rotary Club is implementing a number of projects in different fields and as it enjoys the support of the people and the government.
