The legal trouble for the three life convicts in the 2006 kidnapping and murder of Mandar Surlakar has escalated, with the Supreme Court issuing fresh notices to Rohan Dhungat, Ryan Pinto and Shankar Tiwari on a separate petition filed by the victim’s father, Deepak Surlakar.
Deepak has challenged the premature release of the trio and the recommendation of the Goa State Sentence Review Board that paved the way for their release.
The development comes a day after the apex court issued notice on a separate Special Leave Petition filed by the Goa government, challenging the August 6 order of the High Court of Bombay at Goa that allowed the premature release of the three convicts.
After their release, the fourth accused approached the High Court seeking premature release. His plea has also been challenged by the victim’s father.
