A scooter rider, Balvir Singh Sardar of Mangor Hill, Vasco, succumbed to his injuries after a car allegedly rammed into his scooter while overtaking near Mohan Garage at Chicalim on Monday.
According to Vasco police, the accident occurred at around 12.44 pm when the accused driver, Subhash Gaudar of Sancoale, Zuarinagar, was proceeding from Chicalim towards Vasco. While allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner, Gaudar attempted to overtake and hit the rear of the scooter travelling ahead.
Due to the impact, Sardar fell onto the road along with his scooter and sustained injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Vasco police registered an offence under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Akanksh Fadte Dessai of Vasco police station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao SDPO SP Gurudas Kadam.
