Assistant Agriculture Officer Vishwanath Gawas of the Sattari ZAO has appealed to farmers to avail benefits of government schemes as there is a good scope to develop agriculture in Thane village.
He was addressing a meeting of farmers organised by Thane Panchayat as part of the 'Self-Reliant India, Self-Sufficient Goa'.
Thane Sarpanch Prajita Gawas, Panchayat Secretary Sarvesh Gaonkar, Panch Member Sarita Gaonkar, Lata Gaonkar, Vaishali Desai and Veterinary Officer Subhash Gawas were among those present on the occasion.
“Different types of cultivation have been started in Thane village this year as compared to previous years. The land in Sattari taluka is very fertile and suitable for different types of cultivation.
“The government has announced various schemes through the Krishi Card. However, many farmers are yet to obtain these agricultural cards and they should contact the ZAO office immediately in order to benefit from these schemes,” said Vishwanath Gawas.
Veterinary Officer Subhash Gawas said there are many schemes by the Animal Husbandry Department and awareness of these schemes were needed.
“Through such programmes, farmers are gradually becoming aware of these schemes,” said Subhash Gawas, while highlighting some of the schemes.
During the programme, farmers raised queries and sought clarifications from the officers concerned.
Thane Sarpanch Prajita Gawas said the ‘Self-Reliant India, Self-Sufficient Goa’ is a good mission which would boost development in rural areas.
