Anjuna Police detained four minors and arrested a scrapyard owner for the theft of a four-wheeler and 10 batteries of different vehicles.
According to police, a complaint was received on Thursday last week that one Tata Super Ace rickshaw which was parked in an open place near Ajoba Furniture, Dongarmarg, Siolim was stolen by unknown persons.
There were also complaints of theft of vehicular batteries in the same area.
Anjuna Police got into the act and formed a team of police officials to investigate the matter.
Mapusa SDPO, Jivba Dalvi informed that after tapping various sources, police zeroed on some persons and four juveniles were apprehended for committing the theft of the rickshaw and stealing 10 batteries all worth Rs 4 lakh.
All the items have been recovered and attached under the panchanama.
Dalvi further informed that during interrogation the minors admitted having committed similar crimes in the jurisdiction of Mapusa Police Station.
The owner of scrapyard Afzal Ahmad Shah (36) of Colvale who had purchased the stolen batteries was also arrested in the crime.
Police said the juveniles were produced before Juvenile Justice Board and later admitted in Apna Ghar Merces.
