After the unprecedented success of the first eye camp, the second camp of Sindhudurg Live held on Sunday at Sawantwadi got a tremendous response from
the people.
More than 750 people got an opportunity to check their eyes. While 442 people were given spectacles, 134 were selected for a
cataract operation.
The camp was inaugurated by Mayor of Sawantwadi Sanju Parab in the presence of former state minister and current MLA Deepak Kesarkar.
Channel Sindhudurg Live is organising eye camps in Sindhudurg district under the mission ‘Your Vision Our Mission’ to make people in the district cataract free. The mission was launched at Shiroda where the first camp
was held.
With active co-operation of Mayor Sanju Parab, the second camp was held at Sawantwadi which got an overwhelming response.
At the outset Sindhudurg Live team greeted people and the camp started at the Art gallery and
Gymkhana ground.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chairman of Vision Multispeciality Hospital Dr Chandrakant Shetye, former minister Pravin Bhosale, Deputy Mayor Annapurna Korgaonkar, Mangesh Talwankar, social activist Nakul Parsekar, Premanand Desai, Pramod Gawade, Sawantwadi panchayat committee chairperson Mansi Dhuri, former Mayor Pankaj Pednekar,
Councillors Sandip Haldankar, Deepali Bhalekar, Surendra Bandekar, Samrudhi Virnodkar, Utkarsha Sasolkar, Project Officer of Lupine Foundation Narayan Parab, Yashwantrao Bhosale and public relation officer of Knowledge City Nitin Sandye Chairman of Vision Multispecialty Hospital Dr Chandrakant Shetye and his team examined the patients along with District ophthalmologist Dr Rajendra Kelkar. Diabetes and blood pressure were checked by the NCD department of the district
general hospital.
