He was formerly posted as the SP (Traffic) in Goa while serving as the senior-most officer of the Goa Police Service. Gawas, who joined the police service in 1987 as a police sub-inspector, is the ninth cop from Goa Police Service to be inducted into IPS. He received the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service in 2013.
He is presently serving as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) at Puducherry.
Meanwhile, DIG Goa Police Bhairon Singh Gurjar has been transferred to Delhi. Gurjar, a 2003 batch AGMUT cadre officer, supervised the functioning of SP Headquarters, SP Legal and Vigilance, police training school, IRB, election cell, motor transport, home guard and civil defence, and the economic offences cell.
These two are among the 21 senior cops who have been transferred and there are
orders to relieve them within 15 days.
