MARGAO
For three days now, the entire SGPDA ground which had played host to the feast fair “ right at the entrance to the commercial capital -- has been littered with waste, including plastic, though the fair ended on Sunday evening.
The entire PDA ground has become an eye sore, but the agencies have not moved with alacrity to get the waste lifted away. When The Goan called up the SGPDA officials to shed light on the delay in lifting the waste from the PDA ground, an official pointed fingers at the Margao Municipal Council, saying it’s the duty of the civic body to collect the waste and litter. “It’s the Margao municipality that has been collecting revenue from the vendors to set up the stalls. It’s their responsibility to clear the ground of the litter,” the PDA official said.
When it was pointed out that nothing prevented the SGPDA from taking the initiative to clear the mess, the official pointed out that the PDA had dispatched reminders to the Margao Municipal Council to lift away the waste. “Only today, we have seen some labourers working on the ground to clear the waste. Hope, the entire ground is cleared of the litter,” the official added.
