Voicing suspicion Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Shantaram Naik on Friday said a sinister political strategy is being employed by the ruling party BJP to thwart its alliance partner Goa Forward through the recently unveiled start-up policy.
Briefing the media after a meeting of the GPCC state executive committee at Panaji, Naik stated, "Perhaps, this job has been given to a ministry held by an alliance partner of the BJP so that it is defamed. So that it is proved that they are good for nothing. This is one game plan of the Parrikar-led BJP government."
Naik cautioned the ruling alliance partners and warned IT Minister Rohan Khaunte that he is being set up to take the fall and to ultimately shoulder the blame of the failures of these policies. Meanwhile, Naik applauded the state government's decision to draft an amendment to the Public Gambling Act. "I hope they will incorporate necessary provisions which will push casinos out of river Mandovi. I still don't know why no offence has been registered with respect the the fiasco around the casino vessel grounded at Miramar Beach, Lucky Seven," he said.
"What was the need for Goa government to have its own start-up policy. When your investment policy has failed, industries are not coming up, what wonder will the start-up policy do?" Naik questioned.
Congress demanded to know whether the state government has entered into any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with any financial institutions, whether it has identified or acquired the land required for these
industries and whether any preliminary assessment of the incubator centers has been conducted.
