Whether it is water sports, adventure park or thrill rides, visitors, picnickers and adventure enthusiasts can look forward to various eco-tourism facilities, with the inauguration of the Sharvraj Eco Farm along the Mapusa-Belgaum highway at Karapur-Bicholim.
Former chief minister and Poriem MLA Pratapsing Rane inaugurated the eco farm on Saturday evening, in the presence of Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant, Mayem MLA Praveen Zantye, former speaker Anant Shet, owner Ramapati Pitre, Karapur Sarpanch Laxman Gurav, Poriem Sarpanch Balkrishna Mhalshekar and former Bal Bhavan chairperson Vijayadevi Rane.
While welcoming the guests, Pitre gave a brief introduction about the project and said the Sharvraj Eco Farm is spread across 65,000 sq mtrs and would offer several facilities, including spice plantation, open air venue, zip line, sky cycling, bullock cart ride, horse riding, water games and water sports.
Former chief minister Pratapsing Rane said Sharvraj Eco Farm would offer people and families a place to enjoy nature, while giving a big boost to eco-tourism in the area.
Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant said the Sharvraj Eco Farm would offer employment to locals and would also boost tourism in the area.
“Goa tourism should consider such projects in the State, as tourists can look forward to such destinations instead of being attracted only to beaches. We need to develop cultural tourism in Goa and we need to divert tourists to rural areas of Goa which will give a boost to economy in the area,” said Dr Sawant.
Mayem MLA Praveen Zantye said the eco farm would give a boost to the area and tourists would be attracted to this eco-friendly park.
