Shavina Shirodkar elected RGP state president; party announces new executive

PANAJI: Shavina S. Naik Shirodkar has been elected as the new state president of the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), with the party announcing its new State Executive Committee ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The new executive includes Vipin Naik as Vice President, Melvin Da’Silva as General Secretary, Premanand Gaude as General Secretary (Organisation), Jayandrath Padolkar as Secretary and Candido Correa as Treasurer.

Addressing the media, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said the party was in the process of finalising its state, district and block-level committees and would complete the organisational restructuring at the earliest.

Borkar highlighted the election of a 26-year-old woman as the party’s first woman state president, saying her leadership would inspire the youth and provide greater representation to women. He said the party would work towards strengthening its organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Newly elected president Shavina Naik Shirodkar thanked party members for placing their trust in her. “I thank all the party members and the current focus would be on strengthening the organisation, intensifying the party’s campaign and taking up issues affecting the people,” said Shirodkar

RGP Vice President Vipin Naik said the new office-bearers were elected through a democratic process rather than being nominated. He said the party would continue to raise issues including employment opportunities, women’s safety and reckless driving.

“I urge people to unite and strengthen the party at the grassroots level, saying RGP would remain on the ground and continue to work for the people,” said Naik
