MARGAO
Goan traditional folk dances --- ‘Fugdi’, ‘Tonyamel’, ‘Ghodemodni’ --- were showcased by artists from nooks and corners of the State.
As the folk dances drew to a close, artists of ‘Romtamel’ troupes with colourful banners, traditionaly decorated umbrella like structures flung these into the air as they danced to the beats of ‘Dhol’, ‘Tashe’, ‘Samel’, ‘Kasale’ which were played by expert performers of this form of art.
Although the route was new to these participants and onlookers, the parade enthusiasts flocked the venue where the end point was Shree Damodar Ling, Fatorda, which was occupied by judges and dignitaries to judge the talent and art of the state’s cultural milieu on display.
As the sunlight faded into the background floats made their entry on the parade route. Depicting various mythological themes, the floats turned out to be the centre of attraction with their movement of the mythological figures perched atop these floats as they enacted various mythological themes to drive home the concept of the victory of good over evil.
