The Shiv Sena has decided to contest 20 seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said his party will contest the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Goa due early next year.
Although Raut has said the party will contest 20 seats, local leader, Shiv Sena Goa President Gitesh Kamat, said that the party will contest over 25 seats in the state.
The party leaders in Maharashtra have called their Goa counterparts to Mumbai for discussion on the strategy for elections.
“Myself and Shiv Sena Goa Secretary Milind Gawas have been called to Mumbai. We will have A meeting with MP Sanjay Raut on Monday morning,” said Jitesh Kamat, Shivsena Goa Chief.
He said that the strategy and number of seats to contest in Goa will be discussed and probably finalised in the meeting.
Kamat said many aspiring candidates are in contact with Shiv Sena and after Chaturthi the picture will be clear.
The party will soon announce its candidates, Kamat added.
The party expects to get support from other outfits.
Once a natural ally of BJP in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena has distanced itself away from the former.
