Shree Ortho & Trauma Centre, Belagavi, which has a large number of Goan patients treated throughout the year, conducted a free orthopaedic, bone density test and general health check-up camp for teaching and non-teaching staff of Rani Chennamma University (RCU), Belagavi. Dr Devagouda Imagoudanavar, consultant orthopaedic surgeon & medical director, assisted by a team of experts conducted the camp, which was jointly organised by the Dept of Studies & Research in Social Work, Women Empowerment Cell RCU Belagavi, & Health Centre RCU Belagavi.
About 200 people were screened and tests were conducted on all, while free medications were provided.
Dr Devagouda, who inaugurated the programme, was felicitated by Prof H Y Kamble, Incharge Vice Chancellor RCU Belagavi.
Dr Devagouda spoke about osteoporosis disease and its symptoms, risk of Osteoporosis with increasing age and how it affects people of all ethnicity.
“One should take appropriate diet and preventive measures to reduce the risk of this disease, under proper guidance,” Dr Devagouda said.
Dr Devata Gasti, Prof D N Patil, Prof Vijaylakshmi Shigehalli, Dr Ashok A D’Souza, Dr Farhatjahan Mujawar, Dr Ramesh Hosamani and a team from Shree Ortho & Trauma Centre, also rendered valuable services during the camp.
Prof H Y Kamble Incharge Vice Chancellor, RCU, spoke about the importance of general health check-ups after the age of 40 and the importance of maintaining health in general.
