Special summary roll revision next month, final list on Jan 4

Voters left out of SIR get another chance to enrol; draft rolls will be published on Nov 12

PANAJI

After launching a special drive to re-enrol eligible voters left out of the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Chief Electoral Office is set to begin the annual Special Summary Revision (SSR) of the photo electoral roll next month, giving yet another opportunity to those failed to get their names on the roll.

The annual exercise to enrol new electors was stalled last year due to the SIR process. The final electoral roll for North Goa will be published on January 4, 2027, with January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date.

In a press note, the North Goa District Election Office said the revision would provide an opportunity for eligible citizens, particularly those left out during the SIR, young prospective voters and first-time electors, to enrol themselves and ensure their particulars in the electoral roll are updated.

The process will begin with the rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations, scheduled to be completed by November 2. The integrated draft electoral rolls will be published on November 12, marking the start of the period for filing claims and objections.

Eligible voters can submit claims and objections from November 12 to December 11. The disposal of claims and objections is scheduled to be completed by December 28, ahead of the final publication of the electoral roll on January 4, 2027.

The district election authorities have urged all eligible citizens, particularly those left out of the rolls, young prospective voters and first-time electors, to take advantage of the revision exercise and verify their names in the electoral roll.

“Special camps will be organised across polling stations during the revision period to facilitate voter registration and the submission of claims and objections,” the press note stated.

Separately, the Chief Electoral Office is conducting a special drive to re-enrol eligible voters left out during the SIR process. They can apply using the original Form 6, without the ancestry declaration requirement, to facilitate their inclusion in the electoral roll.
