Sports associations finally submit bills

PANAJI
Sports Minister Govind Gaude on Friday informed that the State Sports Associations have finally submitted the financial bills and utilisation certificates towards the funds provided to them for the National Games 2023.

The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has also received permission from the Law department to issue legal notices to the State sports associations if there are any discrepancies in the utilisation certificates.

Gaude confirmed that associations have finally submitted their bills and UCs and the same would be scrutinized. “If there are any discrepancies, then we will serve them with legal notices,” he said.

SAG had sanctioned grants of approximately Rs 15 crore to 35 state associations so that they could prepare adequately for the National Games, held in Goa between October 26 and November 29, 2023.

He said that the UCs were submitted only after we decided to serve them legal notices for their failure. “We had granted them one year's time to submit the bills, UC and audit report,” Gaude said.
