Saying that a healthy and active youth is the backbone of a strong and progressive nation, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Ramesh Tawadkar urged people to make fitness a part of their daily lives.
Tawadkar was speaking after taking part in the 53rd edition of Sundays On Cycle, organised under the Fit India Movement along the scenic Goan coastline.
The event was dedicated to Vijay Diwas and paid tribute to the courage, discipline and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces. It aimed to promote fitness, environmental awareness and an active lifestyle among citizens.
The Sports Minister cycled along with youth, fitness enthusiasts and citizens from across Goa on the Miramar Circle to Dona Paula route and back, highlighting the need for regular physical activity and the use of sustainable transport.
The programme also saw the participation of Fit India Champions and Ambassadors, along with yoga, zumba sessions and other fitness activities held by the beach.
Speaking on the occasion, Tawadkar said such initiatives play an important role in motivating people, especially the youth, to adopt fitness as a way of life.
The event reinforced messages such as “Pedal to Fitness”, “Pollution Ka Solution” and “Fitter Bharat”, inspiring citizens to stay healthy while contributing to environmental protection and national pride, according to a statement from the Sports Minister’s office.
