A 16-year-old SSC student from Xelpem-Dhuler in Mapusa allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison after she was caught copying in examination.
According to Mapusa Police, the deceased girl, who is a native of Maharashtra, was answering her exam when a teacher caught her copying on October 21. The school authorities called her parents to the school and informed them about the incident.
Police said the girl after reaching her house consumed poison. The parents admitted her in North Goa District Hospital, from there she was moved to GMC Hospital in Bambolim, where she succumbed on Tuesday morning.
Mapusa Police conducted the Panchnama and the body was handed over to her relatives. The last rites were performed at her native place at Mahagao-Gadhinglage in Maharashtra. PSI Paresh Ramnathkar is investigating the case.
