Ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls, the BJP on Friday inducted into the party a group of persons, predominantly from the ST community in Fatorda constituency, even as former MLA Damu Naik threw a gauntlet at the Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai to disclose the number of jobs provided to the ST community.
The new members were welcomed into the party by party leader Adv Narendra Sawaikar in the presence of Damu Naik and other local party leaders.
Damu challenged the Fatorda MLA to place in the public domain the number of jobs provided to the unemployed youth hailing from the ST community. Saying that he had stood by the people in times of Covid-19 pandemic, Damu said the people of Fatorda should help bring about a change in the constituency in 2022.
In his address, Sawaikar said that the BJP is looking at the party to win the Fatorda seat in the ensuing polls. “Damu has been working with the people of the constituency in the last 10 years. The time has come to bring about a change in Fatorda in the coming polls,” he added.
Saying that more and more people are now joining the party in Fatorda because of the good work done by Damu in the constituency, Sawaikar exuded confidence that Fatordekars will also vote for the BJP to provide a stable government in the State.
