Intensifying the ongoing agitation in support of its one-point demand for political reservations, the Mission Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa will visit the Temple of Shree Paik Dev at Cortali-Sanguem on Friday at 10 am for a Gharane.
Members of the Scheduled Tribes will also offer a morning mass in the churches simultaneously as part of the ongoing agitation.
The Gharane planned at the Shree Paik Dev Temple at Sanguem comes against the backdrop of the peaceful morcha taken out by the Scheduled Tribes on the Goa Legislative Assembly in the just concluded session on February 5.
The State government later agreed to take a joint delegation of all political parties to Delhi to meet Central government leaders on February 16, so that the Central government issues Notification to appoint Delimitation Commission to delimitate 40 assembly constituencies in Goa to reserve assembly seats for the STs of Goa, before Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
“For the success of the Joint delegation heading to Delhi and to get Notification to appoint delimitation commission, before Lok Sabha elections 2024, it is decided to put the ‘Gharane’ in the temple of Shree Paik Dev, Cotarli-Sanguem on Friday, at 10 am and offer morning masses in churches,” the Mission stated.
The Mission has further made an appeal to the members to come out of the houses along with their family members and participate in large numbers to put the ‘Gharane’ in the temple of Shree Paik Dev, Cotarli-Sanguem, on February 16, at 10 am.
Members belonging to the Catholic ST community have been requested to participate in the morning mass at their respective village Churches.
Those who cannot make it to the temple of Shree Paik Dev, Cotarli-Sanguem have been requested to light lamps in front of their deity in their houses and temples.
