Sardesai was responding to a question tabled by Quepem MLA, Chandrakant ‘Babu' Kavlekar, during the monsoon session of the assembly.
Overall, the state government has earned Rs 238.5 crore from infrastructure tax in a period from April 2012 to June 2017.
The infrastructure tax contributed Rs 42.7 crore, Rs 45.7 crore and Rs 23.2 crore in 2014-15, 2013-14 and 2012-13 respectively to the state exchequer. In the on-going financial year, the state government has already earned Rs 13.1 crore from infrastructure tax between April and June 2017.
As per an act, infrastructure tax is levied in Goa on development in residential, commercial and industrial zones.
