Goa will observe ‘Seva Pakhwada’, a fortnight of service, from September 17 to October 2 to mark PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. The event will focus on raising awareness about government welfare schemes under the slogan ‘Vocal for Local’, CM Pramod Sawant said. The programme will begin with the Rural Development Organisation and Information & Publicity Department distributing loan sanction letters worth Rs 63 crore to self-help groups at Kala Academy. The Sports Department will hold events in Ponda on the second day. During the fortnight, the State Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances office will be inaugurated.
Schemes for the fishing industry will be highlighted at Vasco’s Ravindra Bhavan on September 22, while the Social Welfare Department will hold a programme at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, on September 23. The Animal Husbandry Department will conduct its event on September 24. The police will hold a Statewide road safety and anti-drugs campaign on September 25. Other programmes include GEDA’s session on PM Surya Ghar Yojana (Sept 26), Tribal Welfare in Canacona (Sept 27), Agriculture in Dharbandora (Sept 28), Skill Development in Bicholim (Sept 29), and Women & Child Welfare in Curchorem and Quepem (Sept 30). The Education Department will screen a documentary and host a talk on October 1, before the fortnight concludes with the inauguration of a hostel at Government College, Khandola, on October 2.
