In a bid to give wings to its ambitious project of introducing coding and robotics education in schools from class VI level upwards, the State government will impart training to some 500 teachers.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the education portfolio said teachers from across Goa having the aptitude or who are enthused by the technology field will be trained.
Earlier last month Sawant had announced the Chief Minister’s “ Coding and Robotics Education in Schools Scheme (CM-cares) scheme. Under it, Robotic and Coding education is to be imparted in schools for students from class VI upwards.
Experts in the field have already trained 30 Goan teachers as ‘master trainers’ who will, in turn, run training modules for 500 teachers drawn from schools from across Goa.
Sawant said schools across Goa are surveyed for availability of computer systems. Also, government schools found deficient will be equipped in the next three months, he added.
Coding is essentially written instructions that a robot or computer program can read and then execute. Robotics allows students to see their thinking in a real way as they go through trial and error until the task is accomplished and the robot’s motions are performed as originally intended.
