Stowaways: captain of ship quizzed

Vasco Police on Monday summoned captain of the ship Greenwich Park to conduct an inquiry into how the the two Moroccan stowaways who illegally boarded his vessel rnhad managed to get off on September 14.

Vasco PSI Nehanda Tavares, said the captain was summoned to find how the two Moroccans were seen in the city on September 14 when a missing complain was filed at Mormugao Police station on September 15. “In his statement, the ship captain stated that he was not aware how the two Moroccans left the ship. He further stated that the stowaways were on the ship on the night of September 14 and were served dinner,” said PSI Tavares.   
PSI Tavares added that the captain informed that the two Moroccans were found missing on September 15 and accordingly alerted the ship handling agent, who filed a complaint with Mormugao police.   
Sources at the police station informed that there was a lapse at the CISF gate through which the two Moroccans escaped.    
The source added that the process of deportation is in progress and the report will be sent to the Foreigners Registration Office at Panaji.   
When contacted and sought to know whether the CISF officials will also be summoned for interrogation, PSI Tavares said the CISF officials have been called on Tuesday.
