Schools may swiftly move to soon resume physical classes and bring back children to the classrooms with experts and academicians raising concern of a generational knowledge gap and mental health experts warning of a catastrophe.
In fact, some higher secondary schools have already asked their students to attend physical classes from Thursday.
Although there is no formal missive from the Education Department on recommencing off-line instruction as yet, technically, managements of educational institutions are at liberty to resume from Thursday as the closure order issued in early January had been extended only up to February 15.
An official of the Education Department told The Goan that no fresh instructions have been issued to educational institutions as yet but it is in process and is expected to be done very soon in consultation with the State government.
School students have been off campus since March 2020 when the pandemic first hit and had only briefly conducted physical classes for a few weeks from last November.
During this period, academics have largely been conducted online and assessment norms for promoting students was done internally with exams also conducted online.
