With major contributions from coal and iron ore loading from Goa, freight performance saw strong growth in iron ore, pig iron and finished steel, coal, and raw materials for steel plants, leading to an overall 14.9 per cent increase in freight loading. SWR also contributed about 13 per cent to the incremental freight loading of Indian Railways.

In infrastructure development, SWR completed electrification of 53 route kilometres, 78.1 kilometres of doubling, and 24 kilometres of new railway lines. The zone also achieved record earnings of Rs 155.2 crore through scrap sales.
