Special attention has been paid to ghat sections in the Hubballi division between Castle Rock and Kulem section, which witnesses heavy to very heavy rainfall every monsoon.
General Manager Sanjeev Kishore on Wednesday reviewed online all works related to monsoon preparedness in the presence of Divisional Railway Managers of Hubballi, Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions.
The monsoon preparation works include cleaning of drainage, side drains, catch water drains, bridge vent ways and drainage arrangements for Road under Bridges (RUB’s), removal of loose boulders, cutting/trimming of trees and installation of porter cabins.
Excavators have been stationed at Londa, Castle Rock, Caranzol, Dudhsagar, Sonalium, Kulem, Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road for quick restoration and clearing of the track if there is landslip etc.
Accident Relief Train and Accident Relief Medical Van are kept ready at all times with the prescribed scale of engineering materials apart from other measures. Road vehicles and motor trolleys are kept in good condition for swift transport of relief materials and men to the site, when needed, to ensure quick restoration of train services in the event of a disruption.
Weather bulletins issued by the India Meteorological Department are being monitored and weather warnings are disseminated to stations to alert station masters, trackmen, and engineering electrical and signal/telecom maintenance staff.
