Even as Goa Police have been trying hard to unravel the mystery involving the death of the Nachinola girl, several civil groups are keeping the pressure on by organising candle-light vigils across the State demanding justice to the deceased teen.
While a candle-light meet in solidarity with late Siddhi Naik was organized by Zagrut Xaxttikar near Maria Hall in Benaulim on Saturday evening, two such candle-light marches have been organised at Old Goa and Ponda on Sunday (August 22) at 6 pm. Similarly, a candle-light vigil cum peaceful march has been organized by people of Calangute constituency on Tuesday (August 24) also at 6 in the evening.
Although representatives of political parties have publicly stated that they do not want to politicise the death of the girl, several politicians have made their presence felt at these candle-light meetings.
The body of the 19-year-old Nachinola girl was found in mysterious circumstances on the Calangute beach on August 12, a day after she was reported missing by her family. The police said that the girl died of drowning and the autopsy report ruled out sexual assault or violence.
