Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has called for a professional investigation by Goa Police under the supervision of the Court to give justice to the family of the deceased girl.
Saying it is almost a week after the semi-nude body of Nachinola village teenager was found in a semi-nude state at Calangute beach, Reginaldo said that investigation in the case is totally directionless in nature because the Goa Police has committed the gravest blunder by already claiming it as an unnatural death.
“I demand proper and professional investigation and it must be supervised by the Court or Judicial inquiry because cops have shown utter bias. Within two hours of the body being found the top cops were already trying to divert the matter,” he said.
He said the cops gave a verdict that it is drowning and a suicide case without even investigating the victim’s phone records. “Why was the phone records not investigated. Similarly, before announcing it was a suicide did the cops investigate why and how come the body had no clothes over it, especially the Jeans, the top which she wore etc? Why was the body having no marks on it not put on record?
Why are cops always victimising the victim and the relatives? How can the cops harass the victim’s family including her father? Why are our Goa cops not trained in handling victims and their families with sensitivity and kindliness? Why was this teen victim’s friend circle not probed initially”, he demanded to know.
Saying that the probe commenced only after the media had applied pressure on the authorities, Reginaldo said all this shows how law and order has been treated and directed to work by the BJP government in the State of Goa.
“Is this how law and order machinery working in BJP Goa. Why for the past seven days there has been no progress in this case,” he further demanded to know.
