Gram Sabha members resolve to inform TCP to halt construction on open spaces
MARGAO
The gram sabha of Telaulim village panchayat on Sunday has reiterated its opposition for mega housing projects with 100 Floor Area Ratio (FAR).
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Franny Barretto on Sunday has further resolved to demand with the Town and Country Planning Department not to approve constructions on open spaces.
The resolution opposing 100 FAR projects adopted at the Sunday gram sabha assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of a similar resolution passed by the members at the previous gram sabha.
Deputy Sarpanch Estevan Goes told the media after the meeting that the gram sabha members had adopted the resolution against 100 FAR projects since the TCP did not respond positively to the gram sabha resolution passed by the members at the last meeting.
Sources informed that when the panchayat conveyed the gram sabha resolution opposing 100 FAR projects in Telaulim, TCP officials are believed to have maintained that the department will go by the government rules on the matter.
Water storage for irrigation
Meanwhile, gram sabha members have demanded that the Water Resources Department build the four water bodies for the storage of water for irrigation on time. They also demanded that the WRD should ensure that the water stored in the water bodies is not released in the month of March, further demanding that the water may be released only in the month of May.
The gram sabha also deliberated on the application received by the panchayat seeking information on the tax and houses located in the village panchayat jurisdiction.
