Kirtans, plays and processions planned as part of celebrations

Temples across Goa will celebrate Hanuman Jayanti (Janmotsava) today, April 12, to mark the birth of Lord Hanuman, a festival observed with devotion in many States.

At Shree Mahalaxmi Sansthan in Panaji, the Chaitra Poornima Utsav will begin today with Hanuman Jayanti programmes. The celebrations will include a kirtan by Udaybuva Phadke and a night procession. Over the next three days, there will be plays, classical singing performances, and bhajan-kirtan.

Shree Vetal Maharudra Devasthan will observe the festival with rituals spread across eight days, starting today.

At Shree Hanuman Mandir in Keri-Sattari, the celebrations will include puja, aarti, prasad, and a traditional Dashavatar play titled Rutumati Haran in the evening.

Nagesh Maharudra Devasthan in Ponda will host vocal performances by Amol Patwardhan and local Goan singers.

Other temples such as Shree Maruti Mandir Trust Pedvada and Shree Devaki Krishna Bhumika Mallinath Hanuman Panchayatan Devasthan will also mark the occasion with special programmes.

The 24th anniversary celebrations of the Hanuman Mandir in Chimbel are already underway. On April 12, the temple will host Hanuman Jayanti events, followed by the staging of the Marathi play Raigadala Jevha Jaag Yet at night.
