Tensions flared at Ashwem after an unknown person changed the lock of Shree Bhumika temple. The situation was brought under control following the intervention of Deputy Collector and local police.
It was revealed before the Authorities that those involved in locking the temple door had permission from the President of the Temple Committee, who is currently out of town, to secure the premises. The locals expressed resentment over the locking of the temple door as they were not able to visit the temple on the very first day of the Navratri.
The Deputy Collector has summoned key persons for another meeting tomorrow, where a decision is expected.
In the meantime, the authority has nominated a priest to oversee the rituals until the conclusion of the Navratri festival.
