Some thirteen micro-containment zones in the jurisdiction of the Taleigao, St Cruz and Cumbharjua Assembly constituencies in Tiswadi taluka have been withdrawn.
North Goa Collector Ajit Roy, IAS, issued the orders withdrawing the micro-containment zones he had earlier declared -- four places in Bhatlem, St Inez, Caranzalem and Vodlem Bhat in Taleigao, seven in St Cruz and two in Cumbarjua.
These areas were declared micro-containment zones last month. Roy said, as the Covid positive people residing in these areas have recovered, they have now been withdrawn.
MHA EXTENDS GUIDELINES
The Union government has extended the existing Covid-19 containment guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on April 25, further till June 30.
The advisory had asked States and Union Territories to identify districts where either the positivity rate had been 10 per cent or more in the last one week; or, where bed occupancy was more than 60 per cent. The order has also spelt out measures to contain the spread of the virus, largely based on the formula of testing, tracking and treating.
“I would like to highlight that in spite of the declining trend, the number of active cases presently is still very high. It is, therefore, important that containment measures continue to be implemented strictly. Any relaxation by States/UTs, may be considered at an appropriate time, in a graded manner, after assessing the local situation requirement and resources,” Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said in a letter to States.
